You have a gap between a lunch and a dinner, you are in a hotel in Asok, and you have been in meetings since nine. The question is whether an hour is enough to be worth it, and what to book so that you come out of it sharper rather than half asleep.
An hour is enough, if you pick the right treatment
The mistake is booking a full-body oil treatment in a sixty-minute gap before a dinner. It is a lovely way to spend an hour and it will leave you soft, slow and smelling faintly of oil, which is not the condition in which to meet a client at seven.
For a working gap, the treatments that are done seated and through clothing are the ones to choose. No undressing, no oil, no shower afterwards, and the effect is alertness rather than drowsiness:
- Head, neck and shoulder massage — ฿900 for forty-five minutes, ฿1,200 for sixty. The shoulders, the base of the neck and the scalp. This is the one.
- Office syndrome massage — ฿900 for forty-five minutes, ฿1,200 for sixty. Adds the upper back and the forearms, which matters if you have been on a laptop rather than in a room.
- Foot massage — ฿1,000 for sixty minutes. Seated, shoes off, nothing else. Good if the day has been walking rather than sitting.
Save the oil treatments for the end of the day, when being slow afterwards is the point.
Plan the gap, not the session
A sixty-minute treatment is not a sixty-minute commitment. Count the arrival window, a few minutes to set up and a few to settle afterwards, and an hour's treatment wants about ninety minutes of calendar.
The other half of the planning is notice. We can be with you ninety minutes from the time you ask, which sounds like plenty until you try to arrange it in the taxi back from lunch. If you know in the morning that you have a four o'clock gap, ask in the morning. Bangkok traffic makes the difference between a comfortable arrival and a tight one, and the service areas page gives an arrival estimate for each of the twelve districts we cover.
In the hotel, or at the office you are visiting
Both work, and they are different arrangements.
In your hotel room is the simpler of the two. Give us the hotel name and your room number; your therapist reports to reception and follows whatever the hotel asks. A seated treatment needs no floor space to speak of, so the usual hotel-room problem does not arise.
At an office you are visiting is also possible, through corporate office massage — ฿350 for fifteen minutes, ฿600 for thirty, ฿850 for forty-five, worked in a chair the therapist brings. It needs a quiet corner rather than a private room, but it also needs the host company's agreement, so it is a thing to arrange with them rather than a thing to spring on them.
What to tell us on the form
Two things make a short-notice booking go smoothly.
The hard stop. If you must be out of the door at six, say so. It changes which length we suggest and it means the therapist is not still packing up at five to.
Anything that changes the treatment. A shoulder you have injured, a recent flight, numbness in a hand, a neck condition. Numbness, tingling or weakness in an arm is worth a doctor rather than a massage therapist, and either way it is much better known before arrival than discovered during.
Payment is arranged when we confirm the booking and the amount is the one on your request, with no travel surcharge in any of the twelve areas and nothing added afterwards.
If the trip is longer than two days
Then the calculation changes, and it is worth booking something substantial once rather than something brief three times. Ninety minutes of deep tissue at ฿1,600 on an evening with nothing after it will do more for a back that has been in economy and in chairs all week than three forty-five-minute sessions squeezed between meetings.
Jet lag in the first forty-eight hours covers the timing side of that, fitting one into a three-day trip covers the shorter visit, and the home page lists every treatment with its prices. When you have found your gap, send a request and we will confirm before anything is fixed.
Frequently asked questions
Is an hour long enough to be worth it?
Yes, provided you choose a treatment suited to a working gap. The seated treatments are done through clothing with no oil and no undressing, and the effect is alertness rather than drowsiness. Head, neck and shoulder massage at 900 baht for forty-five minutes is the usual choice. Save the full-body oil treatments for the end of the day, when being slow afterwards is the point.
Can I have a massage at the office I am visiting?
Yes, through corporate office massage at 350 baht for fifteen minutes, 600 for thirty and 850 for forty-five. It is worked in a portable chair the therapist brings and needs a quiet corner rather than a private room. It does need the host company to agree, so it is something to arrange with them rather than to spring on them.
How much notice do you need?
Ninety minutes from the time you ask is the earliest we can reach you. That sounds like plenty until you try to arrange it in the taxi back from lunch, so if you know in the morning that you have a four o clock gap, ask in the morning. Bangkok traffic is the difference between a comfortable arrival and a tight one.
What should I tell you when booking at short notice?
Two things. Your hard stop, if you have one, because it changes which length we suggest and means the therapist is not still packing up as you need to leave. And anything that changes the treatment: a shoulder you have injured, a recent flight, a neck condition. Numbness, tingling or weakness in an arm needs a doctor rather than a massage therapist.
