When You Cannot Face Going Out

Thai oil massage provided in a Bangkok condominium by Jewel Wellness Bangkok

In short

An outcall massage visit removes the journey at both ends, which is usually what stops a tired person booking one at all. It also protects the twenty minutes after the treatment, which are the most valuable and the ones a taxi home takes away. Prices start at 1,000 baht for sixty minutes with no travel surcharge.

There is a particular kind of tiredness that makes the cure feel like more effort than the problem. Your shoulders are tight, you know a massage would help, and the thought of showering, changing, getting a taxi through evening traffic, sitting in a reception area and then travelling home again afterwards is enough to make you decide you will do it next week instead.

Next week you will be just as tired. This is the gap that a home visit closes, and it is worth being clear about why it works rather than simply asserting that it is convenient.

The travelling is not a neutral cost

A sixty-minute treatment in a spa is rarely a sixty-minute commitment. Add the journey each way, the wait, and the getting-ready, and a session becomes a two-and-a-half hour block of your evening. That is enough to make it a plan rather than a decision, and plans get postponed.

More to the point, the journey home undoes part of the treatment. You leave loose and warm, then sit in traffic with your shoulders creeping back up, or stand on a train holding a rail. The best twenty minutes after a massage are the twenty minutes in which you do nothing at all, and at home that is exactly what is available.

What it actually costs

Less than most people assume, because there is no premises to pay for and no travel surcharge in any of the twelve areas we cover. A home and condominium massage is ฿1,000 for sixty minutes, ฿1,200 for ninety and ฿1,600 for two hours. A Thai oil massage at your address is ฿1,000 for an hour.

The price you see is the price. Every duration and every treatment is published before you book, which is the point of putting them on the website rather than quoting on enquiry.

You need less space than you think

This is the objection we hear most, and it is usually unfounded. For a table treatment the therapist needs roughly two metres by two — a cleared living-room floor, or the space beside a bed. For traditional Thai massage, which is done on a mat, about two metres by one is enough.

And two treatments need almost nothing. Head, neck and shoulder massage is done seated, through your clothing, with no oil — a chair with a back you can sit forward on is the entire requirement, and it is ฿900 for forty-five minutes. Foot massage needs an armchair or a sofa with room to put your feet up.

If your condominium is genuinely tight on floor space, say so on the booking form and we will suggest which treatments fit.

The evening does not have to be over

Because there is no journey, a treatment can sit inside an evening rather than consuming it. A forty-five minute seated session at nine o'clock is a realistic thing to do on a weeknight. So is a late one: we operate around the clock, and the booking form imposes no minimum notice, though whether a therapist can attend at short notice depends on who is free.

What you give up

Honestly: the room. A spa gives you a purpose-built space, music you did not choose, and a sense of having gone somewhere. Some people want that, and it is a real thing to want — we set out the trade-off properly in massage at home versus going to a spa.

What you do not give up is the treatment itself. The therapist brings the table, the linen and the oil, and the work is the same work.

Booking one on a tired evening

The form takes a few minutes and asks for your address, the building's access procedure, your preferred time and an alternative. If you would rather know what happens after you submit it, how booking works explains the sequence, and what happens during a home visit covers the session itself — the part people are most uncertain about the first time.

Otherwise, send a request. You can read about the rest of what we do on the home page.

Frequently asked questions

How much space do I actually need?

For a table treatment, roughly two metres by two of cleared floor, which in practice is a living-room rug with the coffee table pushed aside. Traditional Thai massage is done on a mat and needs about two by one. Head, neck and shoulder massage needs only a chair, and foot massage an armchair or sofa.

Is a home visit more expensive than going to a spa?

Not here. There is no premises to pay for and no travel surcharge in any of the twelve areas we cover, so the published price is the whole price: home and condominium massage is 1,000 baht for sixty minutes, 1,200 for ninety and 1,600 for two hours. What you are not paying for is the building and its facilities.

Can I book late in the evening?

Yes. We operate around the clock and the booking form imposes no minimum notice, so a session at nine or eleven at night is an ordinary request. Whether a therapist can attend at very short notice depends on who is free, which is why the form asks for an alternative time.

What do I need to prepare?

Very little. Clear the floor space, have somewhere to change if you have booked an oil treatment, and tell us your building access procedure on the form. The therapist brings the table, fresh linen and the oil. You do not need towels, and you do not need to tidy.
