What Actually Happens on an Outcall Massage Visit

Thai oil massage provided in a Bangkok condominium by Jewel Wellness Bangkok

In short

A therapist arrives with a folding table or mat, fresh linen and oil, and sets up in about five minutes. After a short conversation about what you want worked on and how firm you want it, the session runs for the time you booked, then the table is packed away. You provide space, not equipment.

The most common reason people hesitate over a home visit is not price and not scepticism about the treatment. It is simply not knowing what the hour looks like — who arrives, what they bring, where it happens, what you are expected to do, and how it ends. So here is the whole sequence, plainly.

Before the day: the request and the confirmation

You send a booking request with your address, your building's access procedure, the treatment and duration you want, a preferred time and an alternative. Submitting the form is a request, not a confirmed appointment — we come back to you to confirm that a therapist is available for the time you asked for. How booking works sets out that sequence in detail.

If you have chosen a particular therapist from our therapists, that records a preference. It remains subject to availability and our confirmation; we will tell you rather than quietly substituting someone.

What to have ready

Very little, and less than most people prepare.

  • Space. About two metres by two of cleared floor for a table treatment. For traditional Thai massage, which is on a mat, roughly two by one. For a seated treatment, a chair.
  • Access. Most condominium buildings require a visitor to be registered or escorted. Tell us the procedure on the form and it is a non-event; leave it out and the therapist is standing in a lobby.
  • Somewhere to change, for an oil treatment. A bedroom or a bathroom is fine.

You do not need to provide a table, linen, oil or towels. You do not need to tidy. Do not eat a large meal in the hour beforehand, particularly before Thai massage, which involves stretching.

Arrival

The therapist arrives with a folding massage table or a mat, fresh linen, and the oil for your treatment. Setting up takes about five minutes.

Then a short conversation, and this is the part worth using properly: what you want worked on, how firm you want the pressure, and anything relevant about your health. If you have a diagnosed neck or nerve condition, numbness in your hands, a recent injury, are pregnant, or take blood-thinning medication, say so now. It changes what the therapist should and should not do. There is a list of what to mention on each treatment's own page.

The treatment

For an oil treatment you undress to your comfort and lie on the table under a towel or sheet; you are covered throughout apart from the area being worked on. For traditional Thai you stay clothed in something loose. For head, neck and shoulder massage you stay fully dressed in a chair.

Speak up during the session if the pressure is not right. Firmer and lighter are both entirely normal requests, and a therapist would much rather adjust at ten minutes than be told at the end.

The time you booked is treatment time. A sixty-minute session is sixty minutes of work, with the setting up and packing away around it.

Afterwards

The therapist packs the table away and takes the linen. You have not been given a bill to settle at a desk, you are not driving anywhere, and nobody needs you to leave a room.

That last part is the real difference from a spa. Twenty minutes of doing nothing immediately after a treatment is worth a surprising amount, and it is the thing a journey home takes away from you. Drink some water. If you had an oil treatment, shower whenever you like — there is no hurry.

What it costs

The published price, with no travel surcharge in any of the twelve areas we cover. A home and condominium massage is ฿1,000 for sixty minutes, ฿1,200 for ninety, ฿1,600 for two hours. Every other treatment has its own published durations and prices.

You can send a request, browse the treatments on the home page, or read what to prepare before a therapist arrives if the practicalities are what you are weighing up.

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to have ready?

About two metres by two of cleared floor for a table treatment, or two by one for traditional Thai on a mat. Somewhere to change for an oil treatment. And your building access procedure on the booking form, which is the one thing that can genuinely delay a visit.

Do I have to undress?

It depends on the treatment. For an oil treatment you undress to your comfort and are covered throughout apart from the area being worked on. For traditional Thai massage you stay clothed in something loose. For head, neck and shoulder massage you stay fully dressed in a chair.

What should I tell the therapist at the start?

What you want worked on, how firm you want the pressure, and anything relevant about your health: a diagnosed neck or nerve condition, numbness in your hands, recent injury or surgery, pregnancy, or blood-thinning medication. It changes what should and should not be done, so say it at the start rather than the end.

Is the hour I booked all treatment?

Yes. A sixty-minute session is sixty minutes of work, with the five minutes of setting up and the packing away around it rather than inside it.
